MADISON, WI 1/29/24 – Kellymoss, a renowned name in the world of motorsports, alongside partner team Riley Motorsports, Mooresville, NC, is excited to share an incredible debut performance with a first place win at the BMW M Endurance Challenge in Daytona Beach, FL, the first event of the season in the 2024 Michelin Pilot Challenge series.
The team, consisting of two prior champions during their Kellymoss tenure - Michael McCarthy in the inaugural Porsche Sprint Challenge and Riley Dickinson in 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup North America - paired with up-and-coming racing talent Brady Golan, leveraged a fuel-saving strategy in the last leg of the race that ultimately proved effective as, one by one, the competition was forced to pit for final fuel stops.
Accustomed to much shorter races where fuel isn’t typically a consideration, Riley Dickinson shared, “That was the first time that I’ve done a live fuel save during a race, so it was definitely a bit of a learn on-the-fly kind of experience.” Dickinson masterfully rose to the challenge, though, and crossed the finish line with a slim 1.936-second advantage.
Kellymoss is especially excited for this team of champs to get an early win under their belts as participation in the series was planned just a few short weeks ago. It’s a testament to the professionalism and quality of these drivers, as well as the Kellymoss team, to pivot and turn a late entry into an incredible win that sets the tone for the rest of the season.
“We were really hoping for a top 10, best-case scenario, so we couldn’t be more excited,” said Victoria Thomas, Kellymoss co-owner. “Bill Riley’s strategy was absolutely spectacular, and the line-up of these three young guys, you can’t beat it. We’re so excited for the season.”
McCarthy and Dickinson continue in the 2024 Michelin Pilot Challenge series with a 2-hour challenge during the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, Sebring, FL, scheduled for March 13-16.
